Coach's Biography
My professional and personal profile includes over 30 years of walking with Christ; 30 years of counseling and coaching in both volunteer and professional capacities; over 20 years involved in business development including holding executive management positions in both the public and private sectors; over six years serving with my husband in a building ministry for Christian organizations.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Psychology, Leadership Coach Certification and I am a Christian Writer’s Guild graduate and member. My professional training addressed therapeutic counseling issues such as victims and victors of severe trauma; crisis management; relationships and resolutions; behavioral concerns; and integrating an individual’s spiritual life. After a period of professional time, I began to note that a lot of what I did in my counseling practice was to follow the call of Christ to:
"Go and make disciples ..." (Matt 28: 19-20)
"... prepare [them] for every good work ..." (2 Timothy 2:21)
"... adequately equip for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:17)
I offered these basic tenets of the Christian faith to my clients in conjunction with traditional therapy, understanding that true healing comes only through the gracious hand of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As part of this process, I found I was in many ways doing the work of making disciples of Christ while teaching them that it was by His grace we were saved and by faith; and therefore, we were His great workmanship, created for His good works which God had prepared for us beforehand (Ephesians 2: 8-9). It was during this process, that I discovered His more specific call and His hand on my life.
As a result, my more recent focus has been working directly in Christian ministries, providing a variety of sources of administrative support; music, including worship leadership; coaching, mentoring and discipleship. I have learned to coach others is to come alongside, encourage and offer resources to the life-long and motivated learner. And discipling could be the spiritual component to coaching; for what good is it to have knowledge without the wisdom of God? I found that coaching successfully marries with my love and passion for the replication process of Christian discipleship and leadership.
I have offered speaking and writing services, team coaching, and volunteer department building for the Christian community for more than 30 years. I have volunteered and worked in various community organizations such as the American Red Cross, serving as an interim Mental Health Director for my local chapter; and trained for national and international disasters, specializing in providing Mental Health Disaster Services; and worked with the First Responders and with the Critical Incidence response teams. In addition, I have served in my local community's
On a further personal level, my husband and I served in an itinerant domestic construction building ministry for over seven years where we shared in the efforts of building churches and Christian children's camps in four states. Last, but not least, I have shared parenting with my husband, Wally, and helped to raise our five children. We are now joyously serving as grandparents to eight grandsons and one beautiful grand daughter.
